A new Keira Knightley movie is out!
Yet another Keira Knightley movie just hit DVD. The movie is ‘Silk’. Naturally I bought it and will try and watch it very soon and post a mini-review for everyone to read! I am thinking I should have time to watch it tonight so the review will come later tonight or during the weekend.
He was a quiet man
I was bored the other day and I actually had a little bit of free time, so I decided to scroll through moves in Xbox Live Marketplace. I found a movie called, ‘He was a quiet man’. The movie stars Christian Slater, Elisha Cuthbert (as a brunette), and William H. Macy. It was released in 2008, although I never saw it in theaters. The plot synopsis is:
Bob Maconel (Christian Slater) endures another eight hours in his dull gray cubicle. Ignore by his co-workers, Bob feels completely invisible and out of syn with the world. On one strange day he crosses the line from potential killer to inadvertant hero when he saves beautiful Venassa (Elisha Cuthbert). His boss (William H. Macy) transforms Bob into a new man but his good fortune is short-lived when the Object of his affection asks him to end her life.
For a movie that never got put in theaters, I really liked it. Bob could be the guy sitting you next to you in your office. It really makes you think about what a drain a job can be and the importance of making friends at your workplace. If you get a chance I highly recommend this movie. It gets the point across but its not bloody or gory in any way.
I would rank it 4 out of 5 stars!
New HDTV, more HD-DVDs
I just got the TV pictured to the left. It’s not the biggest HDTV in the world. In fact, it’s actually pretty small. It is 19″ and 720P. I got it on sale at Best Buy for $250 (that’s cheaper than anything on Newegg). I’ve plugged my Xbox 360 (with my brand new HD-DVD drive) into it and the picture is amazing! I could not be happier with my purchase. It works perfectly for me right now and will be a great TV for my bedroom when I get my own place (which will be very soon, look for a future blog post).
Anyway, I’ve also collected quite a lot of HD-DVDs to watch on my new HDTV, they are:
Resident Evil Trilogy (German Imports)
The Matrix Trilogy
Harry Potter 1-5
King Kong
American Gangster
Pride and Prejudice
Elephant’s Dream (German Import - Digital Short)
Mission Impossible 2 (In the mail)
As you can see, I’ve generally tried to pickup trilogies and sets. I think that a ‘collection’ is defined by full sets of movies like that. Otherwise I am planning on getting many more movies as prices for HD-DVDs come down. American Gangster is DVD and HD-DVD Combo Format and despite the fact that it came out less than a month ago, I picked it up for just $17.00 at Wal Mart.
Lastly, as soon as I move into my place, I am planning on getting a 46″-65″ HDTV for my living room, but no point in getting that when I have no good place to put it.
Keira Knightley on HD-DVD
I bought a Keira Knightley movie on HD-DVD! The movie is Pride and Prejudice. Not really a movie that one would typically need on HD-DVD, but since it is Keira Knightley and the price was nice, I decided to buy it.
Those of you who follow my keira movie list will know that I already had this movie on DVD. It is simple really, it’s called ebay. Surprisingly, I paid $14.95 of the HD-DVD and my DVD version is selling for a nice price of $9.50 right now.

Lindsay Lohan Topless (in New York Magainze)
It’s always amazing to see the fall of a celebrity forced into the covers of Playboy magazine when they need money. Lindsay Lohan has had her fair share of problems. However, somehow she pushes on starring in a new movie each year. She’s not gone yet. In fact, I guess some are comparing her to Marilyn Monroe or at least New York Magazine is. They recently had Burt Stern, the photographer who was the last one to ever hold a photo shoot with the late Marilyn Monroe re-create that photo shoot with Lindsay Lohan.

I’m pretty stunned. As much as I have shown some dis-interest in a lot of Lindsay’s work there is no denying that she has talent or that she is an attractive woman. In some ways this sets her apart from a lot of other American actreesses who have a negative attitude about nudity that you just don’t see in British actresses like Keira Knightley or Tamsin Egerton. Well done Lindsay!
On a side note, I believe that New York magazine is a reputable magazine, not on the level of Playboy at all. I am curious as to how they will be able to get away with this in America? If anyone knows more about the magazine feel free to enlighten me.
