My parents bought an HD-DVD player (and so will I…soon)

Nearly a month ago I took my side in the HD-DVD versus Blu-Ray format war when I bought a Combo format HD-DVD even though I did not own an HD-DVD player yet. The exact movie I bought is irrelevant. The point is, I took sides. Concurrently, since I own an Xbox 360 I have been really really tempted to buy an HD-DVD Drive for it. However, I have acutally decided against that for the reason that supposeldy the USB cable is not secure and thus movies with the media flag set will not play properly. (To clarify, some do have this set! One I can think of in particular is the importable version of Resident Evil HD-DVD).

Anyway, my parents recently finally listened to me and bought a new High Definition TV when there old TV broke. My Dad then asked me about getting a new DVD player for the TV, and I told him he could get an Upconverting DVD player, or get a Toshiba HD-A3 with 9 free HD-DVD movies from Best Buy. He went with the Tosihiba HD-DVD A3 and has now taken his side.

I am trying to convince him to buy some imported HD-DVDs that are not available in the United States now. Why? Because you can! HD-DVD is region free!

I hate Sony! Down with the PS3! Down with Blu-Ray!

Down with BetaMax! Down with UMD! Down with MiniDisc! (oh wait… those are already ‘down’ and gone.)

My Favorite movies

Back in the early days of my site, I made a list of my top 25 movies of all time. Naturally, since I seen more movies since I wrote that list there is the possibility that some of them blew me away enough to alter the list.

So, without much of an intro for this post, here is my list of the top 25 movies of all time:

1. domino
2. swordfish
3. memento
4. shawshank redemption
5. kill bill
6. the fifth element
7. eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
8. man on fire
9. love actually
10. resident evil (trilogy)
11. keeping mum
12. the village
13. the matrix
14. million dollar baby
15. dodgeball
16. city of god (cidade de deus)
17. hotel rawanda
18. sin city
19. barb wire
20. batman begins
21. office space
22. harry potter: order of the phoenix
23. jurassic park 3
24. ancorhman
25. star wars (trilogy)

The exact numbering is a bit sketchy, but it’s close enough to accurate. Point of this post though is to get some feedback anyway? What’s missing from this list? Maybe it’s missing because I have not seen the movie. Please let me know.

Backgrounds back, support the pack

With no discussion of the Packers-Giants game at all, for obvious reasons, I have put the normal backgrounds of this site back.

However, you will notice that the Green Bay Packer background has been added to the list now. I encourage you to use that one and show support for next season!

On one final note, I do believe that I may actually root for the Patriots in the Super Bowl? why? I don’t want to see the Giants win after what they did to the Packers.

I feel a little bit sick today.

After a very long night of Assassin’s Creed I noticed my throat was getting a little irritated last night. In the morning I could barely talk, now it just has that frog in the throat feeling. I don’t like it.

Free Xbox Live Arcade Game Soon! (Undertow)

I don’t know if any of you were effected, but Xbox Live was having some problems with the influx of new users after the holidays. With the problems in the past now, Microsoft is giving away quite the apology. It’s a free Xbox Live Arcade game!

I played the demo of this game loved it. Here is the article from xbox-scene.com:

Recently, Xbox.com posted a letter from Marc Whitten, General Manager of Xbox LIVE, thanking subscribers for their patience with the service. We’ve implemented several improvements to the service, to help ensure ongoing reliability and performance. As the popularity of Xbox LIVE expands, we’ll continue to closely monitor the service and make adjustments. As always, if you are having any problems, please contact your local support (1-800-4-MYXBOX in North America) so that we can assist you.

Marc announced that all Xbox LIVE members (Gold and Silver) around the world would have access to a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game to download free of charge. We’re pleased to announce that beginning next Wednesday, 2:00 a.m. PST through Sunday, 11:59 p.m. PST, Xbox LIVE members worldwide can download the full version of the recent award-winning Xbox LIVE Arcade game, Undertow.

Developed by Chair Entertainment Group, Undertow is one of the highest-rated and best looking games available on Arcade. Undertow redefines aquatic based shooters through a mix of high-definition graphics, intuitive controls and multiple modes of game play action. The game features a full story driven-single player campaign, on and offline co-op, and multiplayer for 2-16 players over Xbox LIVE for Gold subscribers. Players battle for control of the oceans as one of three selectable races, each with four unique, upgradeable units. “Undertow” is available worldwide (normally 800 Microsoft Points) and is rated E10+.
