Installed some new plugins and fixed some things

Firstly, ever since I switched themes, my RSS feed was the default wordpress one, not my feedburner rss feed. Feedburner says I have 10 subscribers. That is most likely not accurate though since some may be using my default wordpress feed. I installed the Feedburner Plugin for Wordpress so that those people will hopefully now be forwarded to my feedburner feed.

Secondly, It’s turns out that it did not stop at 1000 spam comments in the month of February. I am now over 2000 spam comments. That’s more than 1500 coming just this month. I’ve also gotten some rather suspicious comments in one of my posts (that akismet doesn’t see as as spam). To remedy this situation, I have decided to install Spam Karma 2 and Bad Behavior.

If anyone sees anything else I can fix up please let me know. I am aware of the fact that my Keira Knightley background doesn’t fully display if your resolution is not above 1024×768, but that’s fine in my eyes. The site background is only for people with high resolution monitors.

I win re-visited

I once had a post titled, I win. Time to r-visit the list. Note that I am only listing Xbox 360 games, and this is winning, not getting all achievements which sometimes includes doing well in multi-player or doing extra stuff that you don’t have to do to win/beat the game.

Game title Information
Splinter Cell: Double Agent On hard with all single player achievements
Dead or Alive 4 some sparring sessions to get system voices & final extra stage left
Madden 2006 all achievements!, see this post
Perfect Dark: Zero on Agent mode
Crackdown All 3 gangs gone, over 500 achievement points, but still more to get

500 comments in the first 6 months, over 1000 less than a month later

It’s amazing that on January 29thI made this post about my blog being 6 months old and reaching 500 spam comments, now less than a month later I am already over 1000 spam comments (1032 as of this writing), and it has not even been a month.

While spam is bad as a whole, as long as akismet is catching it, I am fine with it. I think Spam also tells me that my site is getting more traffic and more exposure. I could not be happier about that. Who knew that writing loads of random stuff and focusing on Keira Knightley would bring people in. I look forward to the future of my blog, and I hope all of my readers do as well.

In the future I plan to do a ‘Why Keira Knightley is so hot and a great actress’ thread, so watch for that.

No reason for a high traffic blog site to not use PayPerPost

PayPerPost is a great service. Truth be told, I sometimes have trouble coming up with ideas to write about. Yeah, the main thing for PayPerPost is a blog ad network. However, I try very hard to make each post informative and not just a blatant ad for the company that is sponsoring it. I think I am doing a good job of keeping paid posts still good to read. So, my point is, I 100% believe that it does not ruin your site in any way.

The one big problem with my blog is that it is only a PR4 and has an Alexa rating below 1 million. If your blog is PR8 and has a better Alexa rating you could literally be making over $1000 this month. Unlike other paid posting services that charge the companies a lot of money, PayPerPost only takes 35% of what the company pays to you, thus in most cases companies are willing to give you more money for each post. I usually gor for posts ranging from $6-$15(btw, in case your wondering, this post is in the upper end of that spectrum), and so far I’ve done 17 posts.

So, in conclusion, let’s make this clear, PayPerPost is not selling out or any such nonsense. It’s better to look at as a provider of ideas, and then you get paid, what more can you ask for? Also remember, even if you don’t have a PR8 blog, you can easily make $100 in a month, and that is still pretty good money just for posting on your blog. I am proud to be a part of PayPerPost and I think you will be too if you give it a chance. The only requirements are that your blog is 3 months old and you disclose that your posting sponsored posts.

Changed my header and …

My friend Bryan recently pointed out to me that he thought my header image was to big and caused un-needed scrolling. I agreed with him, so today I decided to go with a simple header again. I even took keira knightley out of it.

and…

Seeing that my blog was now void of a keira knightley image, I took one of my favorite images of her and made it fit as a background image. It’s a big file, but nowhere on my page does it say it’s 56k friendly. Nevertheless, for 56k’ers and for the times dreamhost is running a little slow, I set it up so that the keira knightley background is the last thing that loads.

Please let me know what you think.
